Safeguarding

Maranatha Christian School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

Sometimes we may need to share relevant information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.

All staff employed at Maranatha undertake accredited Safeguarding Training annually and refresher training throughout the academic year. As per statutory procedure, all employees also complete Prevent Training every two years. In addition to this, as part of their CPD, all staff complete other relevant training relating to safeguarding and child protection at regular intervals throughout the year.

At Maranatha, we take our role in safeguarding very seriously as we believe that all children have the right to feel and be safe. Safeguarding pupils is everyone’s responsibility: staff, trustees, volunteers, parents and the wider community.

Should you have a concern, please speak to one of our Safeguarding Team, as detailed below.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Heather Buss.

Our Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Tom Price.

Our Trustee Safeguarding Lead is Lara Morava.

Our Headteacher, Chair of Trustees and School Business Manager are also Safer Recruitment Trained.

Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces. Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse. The Designated Safeguarding Lead has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the children in our care.
