NEWS: We are very proud to announce that we have met all the Independent Schools Standards after our ISI Inspection in November 2023!

The ISI framework inspects schools in 5 different areas:

·        Standards relating to leadership and management, and governance

·        Standards relating to the quality of education, training and recreation

·        Standards relating to pupils’ physical and mental health and emotional wellbeing

·        Standards relating to pupils’ social and economic education and contribution to society

·        Standards relating to safeguarding

You can read the full report here, but some highlights were:

“In the early years … adults model kind and considerate behaviour and children learn to co-operate with each other and to treat others with respect.”

“Leaders provide trained staff to support pupils’ mental health … Leaders successfully promote highly positive relationships, which enhance pupils’ personal development and self-esteem. Pupils are self-aware and highly respectful of others.”

“The school’s Christian ethos is evident in pupils’ growing spiritual development and commitment to serve their school and the wider community. They are prepared for life after they leave school.”

“Leaders create an effective culture of safeguarding in the school. Staff and trustees undertake regular safeguarding training and have a secure understanding of appropriate safeguarding procedures. There are well-established systems in place to report and track any concerns about pupils’ welfare. Leaders respond promptly to these concerns.”

ISI Reports from 2019

We are delighted to announce that, after an inspection by the Independent School Inspectorate in September 2019, we are now fully compliant with all the Independent School Standards. This inspection was a progress monitoring visit following the compliance inspection in May 2019. A big thank you to our staff, students, volunteers, parents and trustees who all had a part to play in our successful inspection!

Maranatha Christian School is reassured by the positive inspection from the ISI. The school has made significant strides since the Ofsted Inspection in 2016 and improved in all aspects of the school. Our recent compliance inspection by ISI was assessed using the Independent School Standards which has eight parts. We have met five parts in full. Three parts are not met, however these are all related to one issue regarding the completion and recording of checks on our Single Central Record (SCR). Some of these errors are historical, however we recognise as a school that this needs correcting. We are fully committed to the safeguarding and welfare of students and staff. Part of this is the required checks and recording of these for our teaching staff and volunteers. A full policy is in place that covers this area and is available to anyone who wishes to see it. We are correcting any errors and will ensure the completion of checks and recording is compliant with the Independent School Standards and ISI guidance going forwards.

The inspectors were impressed by the School in terms of the curriculum, teaching, relationships between staff, students and leadership. From student interviews it was noted that the students felt safe and happy in their environment and they considered leadership to be approachable and trustworthy. ISI were also impressed by the motivation and passion of everyone in the staff team and the teachers were considered to be excellent. The student’s self-motivation and ability to manage their own learning was noted as being very impressive. The students were also referred to as being well behaved, happy, mature, bright, respectful and responsible. Something that came of little surprise, when it was stated by the Head Inspector of ISI is that, “Any school would be incredibly proud of the results of the parent and student surveys which showed overwhelming satisfaction and support (for the school)”.
